“Man, you know damn well Zy not about to hit on that fucking girl. Shit, after all the shit that went down with Tamar, that nigga might not look in another bitch’s direction,” Ali laughed and so did La-La.

Walking over to the bedroom door, Ali yelled out to Zylen, “Yo Zy, keep an eye on the girls. We’ll be back up there in a minute.”

Once Zylen said ‘okay’ Ali shut and locked the door. La-La shook her head and she stripped out her clothes. She just hoped they’d be finished by the time Kendra showed up, or hoped Fred would show up early. Whichever one came first was fine with La-La.

  Chapter 3

Zylen was sitting in the chair watching TV and keeping a close eye on the twins. He tipped his hat to Ali and La-La. Two babies at the same time was just something he couldn’t imagine doing. With Hydeia being five and Li’l Zy at two years old, that was enough for him. But two babies in their terrible twos. Zylen couldn’t do anything but shook his head. He loved his god-daughters but their asses were a handful and he’d only been watching them for about ten minutes. Zylen smiled at them as he stood to go answer the front door.

Zylen opened the front door without asking who it was. It was a young female that he assumed to be that Kendra chick, being that it was damn near 7:30 p.m.

Kendra stood there with her lips slightly parted as she stared Zylen down. She was trying to ask for La-La but nothing was coming out. Zylen had her ass in a trance. Kendra hadn’t seen a nigga looking that good in a long ass time. She’d always had a thing for chocolate brothers and his ass was one of the sexiest. She began sizing Zylen up, starting at his fresh-out-the-box Jay’s, and moving to the not-too-baggy pair of light blue Levis he wore with the dark blue and white Polo shirt, and his plain dark blue snapback turned slightly to the back. Everything about him screamed I’m that nigga!

Looking at his full lips, she witnessed the most perfect set of pearly whites she’d ever saw on a man. Realizing his mouth was moving, Kendra wiped the corner of her mouth, shook her head, and gave a half smile.

“I’m sorry. Is La-La here?” she finally asked, not bothering to see what it was he’d just said to her. Zylen wasn’t a dumb nigga. He knew she was checking him out. He just smiled and moved aside so she could enter. Damn, he has a pretty ass smile too, Kendra thought to herself as she inhale his cologne. Thinking Zylen was Fred she thought she’d just hit the damn jackpot. She only wondered why La-La had kept that fine species of a man away from her.

Zylen shook his head as he shut the front door. He had to admit, Ali was right. Li’l mama was bad as fuck, but she wasn’t that bad for him to take a second look at her ass. She didn’t have shit on his wife. In Zylen’s eyes, Heaven was the baddest female he’d ever laid eyes on his whole 28 years on earth.

“You must be Kendra,” Zylen said as he took a seat on the couch across from her. Kendra nodded her head and smile.

“Are you Fred?” she finally asked, in hopes that he was, as she picked up A’Liyah.

“Nah, he hasn’t gotten here yet,” was all Zylen said.

“Damn,” Kendra said under her breath. Just her fucking luck. She knew it was too good to be fucking true.

“Oh, okay. So what’s your name?” she then asked. She wondered if he was single. Just as Zylen opened his mouth to speak, Ali walked back up front.

“Yo, what’s up Kendra? La-La will be out here in a minute,” he let her know as he took a seat. The twins wasted no time jumping in his lap. “Yo Fred ugly ass should be here in a minute,” Ali laughed. Kendra rolled her eyes upwards.

“Please don’t tell me that. Is he ugly for real? La-La said he wasn’t.”

“Man, I don’t know if that nigga look good or not. To me, all niggas are ugly. This nigga fucked up to me.” Ali pointed at Zylen and Zylen flipped him the middle finger.

“Fuck you nigga!” he said and they all laughed. Zylen knew he was far from ugly. Shit, Kendra knew it as well, that’s why she gave Ali the side eye when he mustered that lie out his mouth.

“Ken-Ken, what’s up boo?” La-La asked as she entered into the living room. Kendra stood up to hug her. Surprisingly, La-La hugged her back.

“Hey Boss-Lady,” she said. La-La waved her off.

“Girl, we’re not at work. I don’t know why you just won’t call me La-La.” She never really liked Kendra calling her Boss-Lady. However, Kendra had been calling her that since day one and she’d become accustomed to it.

  “Okay, I’m sorry,” she apologized.

‘Cause all of me, loves all of you

Love your curves and all you edges

  All you perfect imperfections

Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you

You’re my end and my beginning

Everyone turned to look at Zylen as All of Me by John Legend played on his phone. He knew it was Heaven and he smiled.

“This nigga here…the fuck?” Ali laughed harder.

“Man, fuck you! Heaven assigned herself that ringtone,” Zylen explained as he answered the call. He walked out the front door for some privacy. La-La thought it was sweet as she turned to face Ali.

“Why I have to have a damn thug ass song for my ringtone? All they talking about is fucking,” La-La said as she mushed the back of his head. Ali assigned her Bedroom Boom by Ying Yang Twins and Avant for her ringtone. He didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way but he simply liked the song. He looked up at her.

“Push the back of my head like that again and your ringtone gon’ be Cut That Bitch Off,” he said. La-La rolled her eyes. She knew Ali wasn’t going anywhere.

“That’s one thing I’m not worried about boo.” She turned to Kendra. “Come on.”

Kendra got up and walked behind La-La to the kitchen. She was ready to question her about the mystery man. Come to think of it, she didn’t even catch Zylen’s name. She was pretty sure Heaven or whoever assigned him that ringtone was his girlfriend, being that he had to step outside to take the call. A girlfriend can easily be replaced, Kendra thought to herself.

“So, who’s that guy in there boss—I meant La-La? He sexy as fuck,” Kendra asked, getting straight to the point. La-La frowned while shaking her head.

“Oh no, he’s off limits! I have you over here to meet Fred. Zylen is my best friend’s husband. If you don’t want to get yo’ ass beat then you might not wanna take a second look his way. Oh and his wife will be here tomorrow so any thoughts you have running through that mind of yours, dead that shit quick, fast, and in a hurry,” La-La said with nothing but seriousness in her voice. She didn’t need Heaven thinking she’d tried setting Zylen up with anyone. Plus she would hate to fuck Kendra up, but if it came down to it she would.

“Oh okay. I’m sorry, I didn’t know he was married.” Kendra threw her hands up in the air, as if she surrendered. She didn’t want any problem. She’d never been one to fuck around with a married man. He was sexy as fuck but she was no home wrecker. She would just see what Fred was about and prayed and she hoped he wasn’t ugly.

“Here La, my wife wants you,” Zylen said, making his presence known as he handed La-La his cell phone with his left hand. That’s when Kendra noticed the bling on his ring finger. Shit, she was so enticed by Zylen’s look that she hadn’t initially noticed the damn ring on his finger.

Zylen smiled at her as he walked out the kitchen. He heard the end of the conversation and knew he was the hot topic. That was part of the reason he handed La-La the phone with his left hand since Kendra seemed to have missed his ring the first time.

Kendra sat listening to La-La and Heaven’s phone conversation. She could really tell they cherished one another’s friendship. That made her smile. She’d never had a best friend before, even when she was younger she didn’t. Her parents were so strict on her that she never had a chance to communicate with the outside world. Most of all her life she was only allowed to go to school and back home. The fact that they moved from state to state didn’t help either.

  See, Kendra’s father, Kendall,
had a bad drinking and gambling habit. He was always in debt and niggas were constantly gunning for his head. That was until he linked up and tried to fuck over the wrong crew back in New York. They took Kendall’s ass right out his misery before he had a chance to pack up and disappear. That might’ve been the happiest day of Kendra’s life. After her father’s death her mother became strung out on drugs and Kendra hadn’t seen her since.

“No, girl. He been chilling here with Ali since I got home from work. He better not be on no bullshit. You know I have no problem fucking him and a bitch up,” La-La said.

Kendra could have sworn she cut her eyes in her direction when she said that. She turned her head, pretending not to notice. She could tell Heaven was a little insecure, questioning La-La about her husband’s whereabouts. Maybe he was a cheater, Kendra thought to herself. She heard La-La saying her goodbyes and telling Heaven to kiss the kids before ending the call.

“My bad. That was my main bitch, Zylen’s wife.” La-La smiled at Kendra before they headed back into the living room. Kendra regretted even asking her about Zylen. Shit, how was she supposed to have known the nigga was married to her best friend?

Just as they entered the living room Ali was walking in with who Kendra suspected to be Fred. She studied him. Looking at his whole attire she was impressed. Nigga looked like money and he was dope boy fresh. He was cute in the face too with a clean cut.

“Mothafuckin’ Zy! What the fuck, nigga? So you come in town and hide out here without letting niggas know,” Fred said as he dapped Zylen up and they embraced in a brotherly hug.

“Nigga, we went by the trap and they said yo’ ass had been MIA all damn day,” Zylen replied.

Since Zylen stepped down and Ali deciding he wanted nothing to do with the drug game any longer, Zylen turned everything over to Fred. Fred already knew majority of the business and with the help of Zylen and Ali it wasn’t long before he knew the whole operation. Zylen was impressed, yet proud of how good Fred was handling business.

“Yeah, I was on chill mode today and shit. You know how that goes,” Fred smiled widely. Zylen and Ali both laughed and dapped him up while nodding their heads up and down. They knew he was referring to laying up in some pussy all day.

  La-La cleared her throat.

“Since y’all don’t seem to notice we’re standing here,” she said with an ounce of attitude.

“My bad. What’s up Miss. La-La?” Fred asked as he hugged her. He looked over at Kendra and his mouth hit the floor. Li’l mama was sexy as fuck to him.

Kendra stood at 5’6” and weighed a good 145 pounds with an exotic look that was indescribable. She didn’t have much breasts but her ass was like no other and she had hips to match.

“This Kendra. Kendra, this is Fred,” La-La smiled. She knew Fred was pleased with Kendra’s look being that he was undressing her with his eyes. He licked his lips before extending his hand for a handshake.

“Nice to meet you, li’l mama,” he said. Kendra smiled.

“Likewise,” she said in a sweet innocent voice.

They stood in their same spot, smiling while staring at one another, not realizing Fred still had a hold to her hand. After what seemed like forever, Fred finally asked Kendra where she was from. Making small talk, they noticed the room fell usually quiet and they both burst out with laughter. La-La, Ali, and Zylen were sitting there staring at them as if they were waiting for something to pop off. Nosey fuckers!

  Chapter 4

Inside the packed airport, Zylen spotted his wife and kids instantly. He smiled as Heaven pointed towards him and Hydeia took off running in his direction, full speed. She was going to be his little track star. At only five years of age, Hydeia could run her little ass off. Jumping up in his arms, Zylen kissed his daughter’s cheeks. He had Hydeia spoiled so rotten that the shit was just ridiculous.

“Hey baby. I missed you,” Heaven said as she approached them. Zylen kissed her on the lips. He eased his tongue in her mouth for a brief second, not wanting to give anyone a show.

“What’s up li’l man?” he said, kissing his son on the cheek. Li’l Zy just smiled. He was so cute and the spitting image of his father. The only thing Li’l Zy and Hydeia got from Heaven was their caramel complexion and curly hair.

Putting Hydeia down, Zylen retrieved their bags and they headed to his Range Rover he kept at Ali’s house while he was back home in Atlanta. The only time the truck was driven was whenever Zylen decided to come into town. Hopefully all the back and forth trips would cease after this one.

“How did everything go at the doctor yesterday?” Zylen asked, pulling off from the airport.

“Everything was good. They got their shots that was about it,” Heaven responded.

“So where do you want to go first? To see La?” asked Zylen. He already knew she did, being that she hadn’t seen her in damn near a year.

“You already know I do,” she smiled as she started texting on her phone. Zylen knew she was texting La-La. It wasn’t long before her phone went off, indicating that she had a text coming through. She let out a laugh.

“La-La is crazy. She’s at work bae. Just take me to her job.” Zylen nodded his head up and down as he headed in the direction of La-La’s job.

“So where are we staying at? Did you already get the room?” Heaven asked.

“Nah, I have to get one. We have to talk later though,” he let her know. Heaven looked at him confusedly.

“We can talk now. What’s up?” she said. “Wait, if you don’t already have a room then where did you stay at last night?” she questioned, ready to go into beast mode.

“That’s what I wanted to talk to you about Heaven. But we’ll talk later. Just go in there and enjoy your girl. You know she’s ready to see you.” They’d pulled up to La-La’s bridal shop about three minutes ago. Heaven just eyed Zylen suspiciously, thinking the worst. Zylen knew what was running through her head, but thought it would be best to wait and talk to her about the move. He wanted her to enjoy her day with La-La and not have to worry about any extra stress. Leaning over in his seat, he kissed Heaven’s lips passionately.

“Go on in there and enjoy your girl. Just hit my line when you’re ready for me to come get you.” He gave her another peck on the lips. “I love you,” he said.

“I love you too. Come on Hydeia. You can stay with mama,” Heaven said as she hopped out. She opened the back door so Hydeia could get out and they entered the store.

“Hello. Welcome to Layla’s Bridal. How may I assist you today?” the beautiful young saleswoman said to Heaven with a smile. Heaven looked around admiring La-La’s store. “May I help you with anything?”

“No. Is Layla in?” Heaven finally asked with a smile.

“Yes, she’s in her office. You must be Zylen’s wife, Heaven? You are so gorgeous. I’m Kendra. I’ve heard nothing but great things about you. And who is this cutie?”

Heaven frowned. Who the fuck was she? It was funny she seemed to know all about her but Heaven had no idea on who she was. She’d never seen the girl a day before in her life.

“And who are you to know that I’m Zy’s wife?” Heaven asked, emphasizing Zylen’s nickname. If she thought she was about to call Zylen by his government then she had another thought coming.

“Oh I’m sorry. I was told his name was Zylen but I can call him Zy. It’s no big deal,” Kendra apologized.

“Well it’s Zy to strangers,” Heaven replied sarcastically. Who the fuck is this bitch?

“Heaven!” La-La laughed, but Heaven didn’t. She was still trying to figure out who the girl was.

“Kendra, this is my best friend, Heaven. Heaven, this is Kendra. I introduced her to Fred last night,” La-La informed Heaven and Heaven gave a half smile. She still wasn’t impressed.

“Oh okay,” she said before turning to La-La. “Hey boo. I missed you and your store is amazing.” Heaven pulled her in for a hug.

“I missed you too love and thanks,” La-La replied. She scooped H
ydeia up and kissed her on the cheek. “Hey baby. You’re getting so big.”

“Hey Auntie La-La. Where is Lissa and Liyah?” Hydeia asked.

“They’re at daycare. You can play with them later when I pick them up,” La-La informed her. She said okay as she nodded her head up and down in agreement. La-La noticed Li’l Zy wasn’t with them. Asking where he was, Heaven informed her that he was with his father.

“Y’all coming to the house tonight?” La-La asked, hoping they would.

“I don’t know. Zylen wants to talk to me about something,” Heaven said, looking at some of the wedding dresses. Though it wasn’t her first visit in the store she was very impressed. Each visit it seemed that La-La upgraded the store.

“About what? Shit, he needs to be talking about y’all moving up here,” La-La suggested.

“I know, right. Shoot, I might talk to him about that myself. We’ve talked about it but that was before my new position at my job.”

“Yeah, I forgot about that. How’s it going?” La-La asked.

“I love it. I can’t believe how many sick fucks out there abusing kids and shit. That shit breaks my heart.” Heaven loved her job and loved the fact that she was saving kids that were in an abusive home. Whether it was beating or being molested, no child should have to endure that type of pain. There was no excuse for anyone harming innocent kids.

“Well believe it,” was all La-La said as the bell dinged, indicating someone had just entered. Both she and Heaven turned towards the door.

“Heaven, is that you over there, girl?” Fred asked, making his way over to where Heaven and La-La sat.
